The 1st ever Maritime Exhibition in North China-- 1992
The 1st shipbuilding industry exhibition for north China, the foremost edition of Shiport China, was hosted on November 8-11, 1992 in Dalian. The exhibition had 80 stands altogether, of which 60 were booked by domestic Chinese companies. For example, Dalian Shipbuilding and the other 20 were booked by international companies. 17 Group of Norway attended the exhibition. 10 speakers were present at the concurrent marine technology forum that collected as many as 40 papers. Mr. Cao Bo-chun, Party Secretary of Dalian and Mr. Zhang Guang-qin, Chief Engineer of China State Shipbuilding Corporation attended the exhibition.

The 2nd Maritime Exhibition in North China --1994
The 2nd exhibition was held on August 6-9, 1994. 40 stands were booked by overseas companies from Norway, Japan, Korea and Singapore, while 100 other stands were booked by Chinese companies from provinces of Liaoning, Shanghai, Jiangsu, Shandong, Zhejing and Tianjin. It represented a 75% increase comparing to the very first event in 1992

The 3rd Shiport China--1998
Shiport China was initiated by Mr. Wang Rong-sheng, who is the President of China Association of the National Shipbuilding Industry and Mr. Bo Xi-lai, Mayor of Dalian Municipal People’s Government in 1998. It successfully attracted 134 participating companies from 11 countries and regions.

The 6th Shiport China--2008
It was completed with great success during November 5-8, 2008 at Dalian World Expo Center, Dalian, China.

An Unprecedented Scale
Shiport China-2008 attracted 462 exhibitors from over 20 countries and regions on an exhibition area of 20,000 square meters. The exhibitors and exhibition areas grew by 28% and 60% respectively comparing to its previous edition in 2006.? More than 12,000 visitors, a 50% increase, were recorded during the 4 days exhibition.

Upgrading of International Standard
Shiport China-2008 has accommodated four international pavilions expect for China, which representing countries of Korea, Japan, Norway and Denmark. Renowned groups of the world industry were also present include STX, Aalborg Industries Denmark, etc. More than 110 international participants from 19 countries occupied 24% of the total number of exhibitors.

More Classification Societies and Ship Registries
Shiport China-2008 won participation of 10 Classification Societies and Ship Registries including Germanischer Lloyd Group (GL), China Classification Society (CCS), Nippon Kaiji Kyokai (ClassNK) etc.? Shiport China was given a high evaluation from most Classification Societies.

China Shipbuilding and Marine Equipment on Focus
Shiport China-2008 mainly featured China Shipbuilding Industry. China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation and its subsidiary of major shipyards, marine equipment manufacturers and scientific research organizations formed the biggest corporation pavilion at the exhibition. Besides, COSCO Shipyards, China Ocean Shipping (Group) Liaoning, Fujian and Zhejiang took part in the Chinese Pavilion. Other major exhibitors from China included Weichai power, Dalian Locomotive, Rolling Stock Co Ltd, Shenzhen Ocean’s King Lighting Co Ltd, etc.
