BIT's 2nd Annual Congress of Marine Biotechnology (WCMB-2012), successfully held in Dalian World Expo Center on September 20-22, 2012. Totally, there were nearly 200 participants from more than 25 countries have attended the WCMB-2012.
As the keynote speakers, Dr. Joe Baker, Adjunct Professor, James Cook University & Visiting Research Fellow, Australian Institute of Marine Science, Australia; Dr. William Fenical, Distinguished Professor of Oceanography and Pharmaceutical Science, Center for Marine Biotechnology and Biomedicine, University of California at San Diego, USA; Dr. Frank Oakes,CEO/President/Chairman, Stellar Biotechnologies, Inc., USA; Dr. Thierry Chopin, Professor and Scientific Director, the Canadian Integrated Multi-Trophic Aquaculture Network, University of New Brunswick Saint John, Canada and Dr. Wu Changwen, President, Zhejiang Ocean University, China made excellent presentations and warmly discussed with the audiences at keynote forum.
There are 6 tracks in this conference including Breaking Research and Technologies in Marine Biotechnology, Environment Applications of Marine Biotechnology, Marine Natural Products, Bioproducts and Bioactive Compounds, Marine Microbiology and Biodiversity, Marine-based Drug Discovery and Development and so on. With the mission to initiate a sustainable platform for exchanging up-to-the-minute upstream and downstream achievements, industrial needs and research opportunities of industrial biotechnology fields in Asia Pacific Rim, participants from academic, industrial professionals and key-decision makers delivered the new achievement on their research, together discussed and analyzed the development of Enzymes and Biocatalysis. The conference has promoted the communication of colleagues and collaboration of partners from the upstream to the downstream of Marine Biotechnology.
Depending on the warmly support and good suggestions from all of the participants, we are confident in organizing WCMB-2013 which would be better and more successful than WCMB-2012. |
